Verifying and Validating Your Existing Family Tree
If you have already been doing some of your own family tree research you will probably have experienced at least one of these:
- you not sure whether a document you are looking at is for your ancestor or for somebody else,
- the family tree you have created contains dates that just don't make sense (eg a woman was having children over a 40 year period),
- you did not note down where you found out key pieces of information
If this is you then I can help by bringing a fresh pair of eyes and research experience to validate what you have already found, by
- identifying where you are missing evidence or your evidence is unreliable,
- finding individuals in your family tree which are doubtful, or even wrong,
- extending your family tree in the areas you choose, using onlline sources as well as material held in archives, libraries and other collections that are not available online.
Smashing Your Brickwalls
If you have already been doing some of your own family tree research you will probably have run into at least one brickwall. You know the feeling - no matter how hard you try you cannot identify who a person was or where they came from.
There is no hard and fast way to break through the deadlock of a brickwall, but I can bring my experience, and my access to sources not available online, to bear on the problem, and can often resolve it to your satisfaction.
Of course there is no guarantee that this will work out. It is always possible the relevant documents were lost or destroyed. It is also possible the relevant person was trying to disappear.
